I need you to read this book. If you’ve known me for a while, you might remember be completely and entirely failing to shut up about the book We Are Watching Eliza Bright by A.E. Osworth. Well, buckle up because they’ve published their 2nd novel and I read it and it is likewise Mind-Blowingly Excellent. I want to gush forever but here's the TLDR version of WHY you need to read it: The main characters get their magic awakening (i.e. wake up with magic powers all of a sudden) not at age 11, not in high school, but in their mid-thirties. So if you’ve been wondering where all the grown-up chosen ones are? Here. They are here. Speaking of “they” - the next reason you need to read this book is because the main characters are all trans folks! I have been reading fantasy since I was in 4th grade and I have NEVER seen a cast of characters that brings this much trans representation to the party. It’s delightful, and if you’re looking for a Pride Month fantasy read this honestly could not be more perfect. And my 3rd favorite thing about this book? Much like in We Are Watching Eliza Bright the villain is ….kind of… the internet? Us, collectively, online? The AI-replicating-lowest-common-denominator-of-people-being-weird-online?? The patriarchy? I don’t know, it’s complex. (Sorry, he. He is complex). If you want to read this and then talk about it with me, I’m open to hosting a virtual book club! (Honestly I’ve already reached out to the author and they are open to joining in our discussion! How cool is that!) So I’m going to ask you 2 things:
Happy Reading! <3 Megan (P.S. I just found out that for Pride Month you can use code PRIDE25 at checkout at that link and get 20% off! I am NOT an affiliate. I just really love indie bookstores and this book in particular. ) |

This week’s card is: XII The Hanged Man The Hanged Man. In the picture today this person hangs, comfortably suspended from a branch by a strong rope. They are hanging upside down, but the body language speaks of comfort and ease. And what’s more? They are holding the rope themself - keeping themself stuck here. This is a metaphor if ever there was one. It begs us to ask the questions: Where and How are we keeping ourselves stuck? Where are we holding ourselves back? And, how has that very...
So you missed the new moon in Cancer? Not to worry! The new moon energy lasts for 3 days, so you have ample time to tap into this powerful energy and set intentions for the next cycle. Here's How I Celebrated the New Moon The new moon is a time for beginnings, but before you start something new you need to release something old. Something that's not serving you anymore. Enter: the Ritual Bath. I lit two candles (one white, for the moon, and one red, for the energy of home and family, the...
Ok dear ones, It's been a week. I know you're feeling it too. Clients and friends and family and myself.... all of us are living in the strange and uncomfortable limbo of an outer world that seems to be spiraling more and more out of control.... and a daily life that looks very much the same. It feels strange and surreal. And, right now, it doesn't feel like we have much control. Today's card gives me comfort: From the Eternal Visions Illuminated Tarot by Matt Hughes The queen of swords is...
