I had almost no idea what I was doing the last time I launched this group coaching program.

I thought the most valuable part would be the workshops, the modules. The things we could do.

And about halfway through I realized... nope. That's not what the magic is. In fact, all that stuff that I thought a group coaching program had to have was getting in the way of the magic.

The real magic was happening in the "campfire calls".

Which honestly? Started because I couldn't figure out how to use zoom to record in breakout rooms.

I had thought that, once a month, we'd all pair off and coach each other, one on one. But because I couldn't work the technology, and our group was so small, we stayed in one room, and we took turns coaching each other.

Sometimes I took the lead, but just as often one of the other members had insights and expertise that got to shine while helping their friend.

I called it "round robin" coaching at first, but then I realized... It's not just about taking turns.

It's about the fact that, in this space, we all have something to offer. We all get to show up and ask for help and coaching, and we all have a perspective that is valuable. We all have the capacity to help each other grow.

It felt like we were sitting around a campfire. No one had to talk, but everyone was allowed to share. And if you're "holding the feelings stick"... well, then you get all of our full attention.

It was such a big change from other group coaching programs I'd been in over the year where one coach fields questions and the rest of us just sort of... watch.

I asked the women in the group for their feedback and we were all on the same page: The campfire sessions were the magic. That's what we wanted more of. I scrapped the other types of calls moving forward and we connected even more deeply in the final few months.

So here's what comes next:
