Some days you pull a card and you're like "ah, lovely! Just what I suspected" And some days? You pull a card and it's like "DAMNIT! Just what I suspected." Our card for the week is: ​ Eight of WandsHere's what I mean. This is my journal entry from right before I drew this card (edited a bit. If you want unedited journal entries you gotta get on the paid list). I didn't even want to do this today. I feel overwhelmed, and exhausted, and somehow, even though school doesn't start for two weeks, and even though my son is only 4 and not even starting kindergarten yet, I still feel like back-to-school is suddenly my whole life.
There is this intense pull, in the back of my mind, to drop everything and go shopping for things my kid might need, like new clothes (why? he's been wearing clothes every day. He has plenty of clothes!) and a new lunchbox and a sleep mat for naptime.
I also have a handful of other urgent projects on my plate that I feel are deeply stupid.
But fuck it. I'm showing up. I don't have to be feeling 100% to show up. And I don't have to give 100% and do A+ work all the time.
All I have to do is pick a card.
And then I picked THIS card. The eight of wands. In this image, eight wooden sticks are tilting down all in the same direction almost like a driving rain, or a volley of arrows from seemingly out of nowhere. And honestly, after how I've been feeling today already? I'm just not surprised. The traditional meaning of the eight of wands is action, balance, change, and productivity. Here's what this card means for us this week:You are feeling overwhelmed. Because there is SO MUCH that has to be done. And I'm so very, very sorry to tell you this, but the only way out of this is to DO THE THINGS. So unfortunately, it looks as if instead of complaining, resisting, and getting angry about all the shit I have to take care of, it's time to go into "get it done" mode. You know you have a get it done mode. Even if you don't like using it often. Even if sometimes being in it makes you feel cranky and irritable. Even if you would rather be doing literally anything than, for example, going to the DMV to try to register your car again. Sometimes we resist doing the things we don't want to do because there is literally no way to feel good while we're doing them. Things like cleaning out our fridge, doing our taxes or clearing our email inbox. Having the thing done might feel like a weight off your shoulders, but the process? Never going to be a party. This week is the time to buckle down and tackle the things on your list. Whether or not you're excited about them. Whether or not you do them with a smile. It's very Virgo energy, honestly, so thanks cosmos! Here's how we're going to do it without losing our shit:
