Last night was a Full Moon. And not just any full moon. It was also a lunar eclipse. Cosmically speaking this means energies are turned way way up, and no surprise, when I pulled a card today I got a big one.

Our card this week is:

The Goddess Demeter

I'm not going to go on a full lecture about the history and myth of Demeter, but if you're not familiar please know that she is one of the Big Players in the Greek Pantheon. Her domain is the home, the earth, the harvest, the weather. She basically IS the earth, the fire, and the feminine. And she has a message for us this week.

What this means for us:

The guidance this week is to hold our Selves sacred, and not just the shiny, fancy and socially acceptable parts of ourselves. Demeter is the Hostess with the Mostess and the Nurturing Mother, yes, but she is also Rage, Destruction, and Being Too Much. Both/And. All.

So it's going to be a week of settling, integrating and worshiping the things that often we take for granted or try to push down.

AND it's a week of community-building. The women on the card are working together, lifting each other up, bringing their individual gifts into divine community. It takes a village, and so it's time to be a villager.

Last but not least, remember that creation IS connection, and so it's also important to remember that your hobbies are not just cute little ways to waste time. They are an essential part of the way you connect with yourself and others.

How to integrate this guidance:

  1. Revisit your girl power playlist. In addition to songs that make you feel like a badass, do you need to add songs that speak to other emotions, that maybe you're not as comfortable feeling? What songs come in to fill out the spectrum of all the various things femininity can mean?
  2. Call your girlies. Make time this week intentionally to catch up with women in your life who are important to you, either in person or on the phone (REAL TIME! Try not to just send voice notes back and forth. Create a space, a sacred container, to be together in time, even if it's only 10 minutes.
  3. Create something. Give yourself time this week to write, draw, paint, dance, or bake, or knit - this is the time to prioritize your creative process. It can be as long or as short as fits with your schedule, but dont cut it out entirely. Creativity is how we connect deeply with ourselves and others.
  4. The home as a temple - Romanticizing your life often means connecting with the space you live in. That room you've been putting off cleaning? Now is the time. Consider refreshing your space for the changing season, bringing in flowers, baking a seasonal dish, Filling the space with a few extra loved ones for dinner. Celebrate and honor your home this week, as that is Demeter's domain.

Hi [Name], I’ve been writing a ton this August—and while I haven't even used my tracker’s “fill in” feature for skipped days, it’s not because I’ve been perfect. Some days I write thousands of words. Other days, I don’t write at all. But I’m proud of myself for showing up consistently. Actual excerpt from my 750 words app. And that word—consistently—comes up a lot with my clients. They tell me things like: “I work out, but not consistently.” “I eat healthy, but not consistently.” “I journal,...
