Magical Mondays: Where the Wild Things Are

an oracle card with a wild boar wearing a dress and holding an apple lays on top of a page of handwritten notes

Good morning, loves!

Magical Mondays is back with your weekly dose of wisdom and practical tools & tips to live in a more magical way.

This week's card is:

What is Wild

This is one of my very favorite cards in this deck. It reminds us that, no matter the trappings of the modern society we live in, and no matter how primly and properly we dress ourselves or act - there is a part of us that is and that will always be wild.

The wild is often an inconvenience to modern life. From the deer and groundhogs who munch our carefully landscaped gardens to the spiders that take up quiet residence in the dark corners of our closets, only to jump out and startle us as we get ready to start our day - the wild is an interruption, a disruption, a shock.

Even the weather is seen as an inconvenience, with big and small plans cancelled at the first sign of rain and wind.

This card comes to us today to remind us that "what is wild" is also what is real, and that our true power and happiness is activated when we embrace our connection to what is wild, natural, and inconvenient.

Bring the wild into your week

  1. Spend time outside each day - in all weather. Hot & steamy, or rainy & chill. You don't have to spend all day outside, but do go out for a bit and take a walk, or tend your garden. Let yourself get wet, or sweaty, or dirty, or bitten by some bugs. You can always shower when you come back inside.
  2. Do the weird thing. When I used to work in an office, on those slow afternoons when I was feeling sleepy and bogged down, I would come into the big main office and do handstands to help energize myself. In my work clothes. Now, you don't have to do handstands in your office (but pro tip: if you do, make sure to tuck your blouse in first!) but each day notice how you stop yourself from doing what the warm, soft animal of your body is craving because it seems "weird" or "inappropriate". And then practice doing it anyway.
    1. Sit on the floor instead of a chair
    2. Nap during your lunch break (under your desk, maybe?)
    3. Get up and exercise in the airport
    4. Practice your breathwork waiting at the DMV

Generally speaking, this week pretend you're a wild animal dressed up in human clothes, and let yourself be as weird and as wild as you need to in order to honor your instincts and intuition.

P.S. - I'd love to hear how you work wildness into your week! Reply to this email and let me know what you try and how it goes!

P.P.S. - Reclaiming your wildness is exactly what we do in my 1:1 Good Girl Deprogramming container! I have two spots left to start with me this month. You can claim yours now, or hop on a free call to learn more.
