Magical Mondays: The redirect you didn't ask for

Good morning, Reader

This one's going to be a doozy.

This Week's Card: The Cricket

The cricket, as an insect, represents constant movement and joyful singing - especially when you don't want it to. The cricket represents universal guidance, a call that is un-ignorable.

Think about it. When you have a cricket stuck in your house? You have to find it. It will not give you a moment's peace, otherwise. So even if you have to unplug all your appliances and pull them away from the wall, the cricket has to be followed.

The cricket also symbolized good luck, if Mulan's grandmother knew what she was talking about (and you know she did). But, not good luck in any convenient sort of way. The cricket is here to mess up all your well-laid plans and keep you from walking blindly down the path that was never meant for you. Inconveniences this week, obstacles, and big shifts can be seen as redirections to get you onto the path you've been avoiding: the one that only you can walk.

Bring this guidance to life:

  • Pay attention to little and big things this week that don't go your way. See if you can figure out how they might, in fact, be helping you. We know the Universe always has our back, so if you get stuck in traffic, or you get rejected from that job you really wanted, consider how this might actually be putting you on a better path. (Doesn't mean you can't still feel mad as hell about it.)
  • BE the cricket this week. It's a great week to be loud and un-ignorable yourself. Be the squeaky wheel this week. Ask for what you want and need. Revisit that raise with your boss. Tell your waitress that you asked for no pickles on your sandwich and have her bring you a new one. Make some noise, damnit!

This should be an interesting week for all of us! I'd love to hear your thoughts on this reading. What does the cricket mean for you? What does the image on the card make you think of? Reply to this email and let me know!
