Monday Tarot Draw: Gratitude, Gathering, and Making a Village Work

Good morning, and good Monday!

Our card this week is:

10 of Pentacles

It's time to celebrate AND time to focus on expanding your circle.

This card is all about gratitude and gathering. The pentacles suit is all about abundance and wealth, and 10 is the MOST PENTACLES you can draw in this deck, so it's a LOT of abundance.

This card is about noticing the abundance that exists all around us and also remembering that abundance is for sharing - joyfully.

10 of pentacles is "the village"

You know that elusive concept that we all need to raise our children, but don't have access to because of a decades-long combination of capitalism, urban sprawl, and grandparents who still think therapy is for "crazy people"?

That's what this card is all about.

If you have a village, this week is the perfect time to strengthen it, gather it, and celebrate together.

If you don't have a village, and you've been longing for one, this is the perfect week to start building it. (Pssst... if you're not sure how to get started with this, scroll down for a free meetup!)

Here's how to align with this week's guidance:

The Practical-

This week dive into the practice we all love to hate on: the gratitude journal.

Gratitude is one of the most powerful frequencies you can be in - and you might notice a lot of good starts to come your way naturally when you start to intentionally notice what you are grateful for.

Take time each morning when you wake up, or each night before you go to bed (or both, you overachiever!) to write 3-5 things that you are feeling grateful for at that moment. Be specific, and for the love of all that is good in this universe, give yourself full permission to NOT write "my kid" "my house" "my family" "my pet".

NO ONE IS READING YOUR GRATITUDE JOURNAL. They will not be offended if today you are grateful for the way the daffodils outside your window catch the light, and how your barista remembered your coffee order without you asking and you finally felt like you were a "regular"

Here's a tip from my money coach, Serena Hicks:

Sometimes the word "gratitude" trips people up. Instead, you can keep a "positive appreciation journal" where instead of the word "grateful" you start off with "I appreciate...." or, in shorthand, "I A+...."

Even if gratitude journals have sent you spiraling in the past, try it at least a few times this week, because the cards don't lie.

Also -

Plan some social time this week! It can be a book club, a coffee chat, or even a catch up by phone.

This is a week to spend real time with actual people as much as possible.

If you're a mom (like me) with children and that's been a big obstacle to gathering with grown up friends, I highly recommend reading this essay by Priya Parker, author of The Art of Gathering, on how to incorporate kids into your gathering without making it ALL ABOUT THEM.

The Magical -

Springtime is the perfect time for plant magic! Things are growing, so grab a few seeds from your local nursery or grocery store. Flowers are delightful but consider the extra potency of doing this with herbs (because then you can use them in, say, a feast or family meal later on and get DOUBLE MAGIC!)

As you plant each seed (according to package directions, please! Magic won't make a sun-loving plant grow in full shade.) visualize something you are grateful for in your life. Hold that image in your mind and as you plant the seed say a simple "Thank you! More please."

As you water and care for your seeds, the things you are grateful for will grow and multiply, and your awareness of the abundance that surrounds you will increase as well!

By the way, you're reading 🌟Magical Mondays🌟, where every week I draw a card for us to give some guidance and translate it into practical (and magical) steps you can take for your life, business, and personal growth.
