How can I support you?

I recently started asking this question at the end of catch-up calls with friends, or with colleagues and collaborators.

And the response is always the same:

"What do you mean?"

I shouldn't be surprised. We've been taught as women that asking for what we need is inconvenient at best, pushy and rude at worst.

But I pushed on.

What is something I can do, today or tomorrow, that would support you in reaching your goals?

For one person it might be sharing her upcoming event, for another, simply reposting her social media.

I'm not driving anyone to the airport (at least not yet).

But it got me thinking about how hard it is to ask for support, especially from friends, without offering something in return.

It's so uncomfortable that, even if someone asks "how can I help you?" our first impulse is to say "I'm fine, thanks!" because asking for help is so loaded.

THIS is why we need Campfyre Collective, and other spaces like it. Because as the gifted kids and the good girls we were taught that our value was in being able to do everything on our own and not other anyone.

But we can't build community like that. We don't succeed like that. We succeed together.

Campfyre Collective is a year of coaching in community with other former gifted kids and eldest daughters turned witchy women who are ready to stop rejecting the most powerful parts of themselves, so they can achieve their goals AND help others achieve theirs.

Oh, and here is my closing question:

How can I support you this month?
