There are things all over your life and world that are already magical, but that you rarely notice, or just don't know how to tap into. That's the message of this week's card: The HerbsHerbs are mystical, magical plants that can be used to heal, soothe, and energize our bodies, if only we knew the mystical magical ways they work! Right? Think again. Most of the herbs that you'd find in a magic shop or for that matter on a grocery shelf? They are weeds. They don't look fancy or special on the outside. Even some of my favorites, like mint, sage, and chamomile.... they aren't the standouts in a garden. Most people would pull them out if they saw them growing round the edges of their garden beds, or mow them down. Now, this is not actually an email about plants. It's a message about how some of the most magical, most special, and most healing aspects of your life are the ones you are regularly rushing through and skipping over, or even pulling out of your schedule altogether. This week, you're being called to notice them, to save them, and treat them as the special ingredients they are! "Herbs are infused with simple magic, made of daily gestures."
Here are some ways you can bring this guidance into your week:Ritualize your morning coffee or tea. Whatever your beverage of choice is, it becomes magic when you treat it as a ritual. Choose your blend of coffee or tea with care, with an eye to what it's going to cultivate in you. Speak to each ingredient and tell it what you'd like it to do. Here's just one coffee recipe I love: Coffee for energy, cinnamon for prosperity, honey for a little extra sunshine, and almond/oat milk for added coziness and nourishment. You don't need to change up your add-ins at all, just quickly decide what you want each one to bring into your day, stir 3 times (clockwise) and then sit and enjoy the first 3 sips while holding your intention in your mind. Then you can drink the rest of your coffee as usual! Have you been "streamlining" your schedule lately? Maybe life has gotten busy and some of your normal self-care practices have been taken out to make more space for work? Notice what you've "pulled out" of your garden lately that might actually have been sacred medicine. Often when we get busy, we "don't have time" for things like journalling, meditation, art, reading, or watching our favorite comfort show on TV. We don't have time to make our dinners from scratch, and sit and eat them at the table with our partner. Maybe we don't even have time for our normal hair & makeup routine. I'm the last person to tell you you've got to do EVERYTHING full out EVERY day, but this card lets us know that one of the things you cut out might have been secretly, subtly, super-important. Reflect on that, and welcome it back in. Get your hands dirty. If you've been thinking about working more with herbs and foraging, you can take this as a sign. Maybe just start by looking up the traditional uses of spices and seasonings you have in your house, or else buy a few herbs and start an indoor garden. The magic of herbs isn't just in the properties of the plants themselves, it's in the care, effort, and time you put into nurturing them and helping them grow. <3 Remember, I do Intuitive Tarot, so if you saw this card and had a completely different insight? Go with it! I'd love it if you'd respond to this email and let me know how what the Herbs card means to you this week! I'm pulling back the curtain today. You may have wondered why I'm always so determined to put a picture of EXACTLY the card I drew in my Magic Mondays email! Or, well, maybe you haven't. There's a lot on everyone's minds right now. But there IS a very important reason why I never use a generic "3 of cups" picture when I'm actually pulling from my Illuminated Visions Deck, and why I wouldn't pull an AI image of "herbs" for the card I pulled yesterday. It's because: THE MEANINGS OF THE CARDS...
I remember the first time we talked about your work life balance, and you were already doing so well. Not only were you crushing it at work, but you were also monetizing your hobbies, and volunteering, and taking classes. Of course you didn't have a work-life balance problem! But, also... You were eating your lunch in your car in a nearby parking lot, because even with your door closed colleagues would come in and interrupt you while you were on break. And you were holding your pee for way...
